Antiques and modern furniture are blended with books, plants and flowers to create a homely atmosphere at this modern seafront hotel, run by three sisters. Hotel Pensione Quattro Stagione

This flower-filled village house near the Marina Piccola is the closest thing in Capri to a traditional pensione. The rooms are comfortable, the views from the bougainvillea-shaded terrace lovely, and dinner (on request) a lively taste of Italy. Rates are extremely reasonable, so book well ahead.
